As soon as I met this lovely family I couldn’t get over how stylish and GORGEOUS they were. Am I right?! And little did they know, their outfits were perfectly suited to match the colours in bloom at the Ornamental Gardens on the day of the session. If there’s one truly memorable thing about this lovely family though it was their love of laughter. There was rarely a quiet moment and that made for some of the best interactions. When clients know how to laugh, joke and have a great time, they can always expect the best photos!
A big thanks to the E family for having me out this past summer to capture these images! Needless to say, I had a blast and I hope we can do it again in the future!

I have tons of past family sessions to blog and loads more upcoming fall family sessions! Not sure if I’ll have the opportunity to blog everything…but I’m definitely hoping to catch you up on at least a few of my favourites so you don’t think that I abandoned this space entirely! 🙂
Oh how I enjoyed this family’s session at Petrie Island in Orleans. I love photographing families with kids of all ages…but I have to admit that I am always a teensy bit excited when I have the opportunity to photograph teen and adult kids. A big reason is simply the ease of working with subjects who are old enough to take instructions 😉 The second, and maybe more important, is knowing that a family has taken the time to document themselves at this stage. It’s so common to want to do these things when your kids are small. But as the years go by people get busy, kids go off to college etc. and not as much attention is paid to things like family portraits. It’s so nice to see folks slowing down and taking the time to capture these moments before everyone heads off in their own new directions.
The S family’s session was tons of fun and the resulting images really captured the laid back, care-free dynamic they have. Thanks so much for having me out to capture these for you, guys!

THESE BOYS! They stole my heart from the moment I showed up. Although they are twins, their personalities couldn’t have been more different. One was a complete ham, willing to pose and smile on demand. The other was a little more shy and basically wanted nothing to do with me. It made for an interesting time to say the least! But I’m no rookie. I had many tricks up me sleeve to ensure cooperation and let’s just say that mom and dad weren’t disappointed with the results! 🙂
The location for this family photo session was right in the family’s own neighbourhood which was so perfect. Being an older neighbourhood, there were lots of mature, colourful trees that helped set the scene perfectly. It also helps with some kids to keep them in familiar surroundings as well. These boys were more than happy to show me their yard, the cool rocks they collected and the giant home-grown pumpkin that sat proudly on their front porch. In the end I’m so glad we went with this location. Nothing is more personalized than family portraits in your own neighbourhood!
Thanks so much ‘L Family’ for your hospitality and for asking me to photograph your beautiful family! I hope we have the opportunity to do this again in the future!
