I’m a huge dog lover and that’s no secret to anyone who knows me (I have three!). Needless to say, I’m generally open to dogs at any session as long as they can follow basic commands, can sit for a photo (even just for a moment), and if they are allowed at the location we’ve chosen. Because the M family had recently adopted their new pup Oscar and wanted for him to be a part of the shoot, we definitely wanted to choose a spot where he’d be allowed. So we trekked down to the Arboretum with puppy in tow for some family photos!
I think the images paint a pretty clear picture of how well-loved this pooch is by his adoring mom and siblings! He stole the show and kept all of us laughing with his goofy antics and slobbery kisses. It was a really fun time! I’m so happy that the M family thought to document this time for their family and I’m thrilled that they love their family photos!
If you are interested in having your own set of family photos (with or without your pup!) with Ottawa Family Photographer, Danielle Lynn Photography, I’d love to hear from you! I have several upcoming evening and weekend session dates available this spring, summer and fall and I’d love to meet your family this year!
When Meagan and Rob contacted me, I was SO excited to hear that they wanted to have a photo session with their Basset Hound Marley. As an avid dog lover myself, and as someone who grew up with Beagles as family pets, I have a soft spot for hounds and was really excited to be doing a session that included a slobbery faced, long eared, big hearted pooch 🙂 Continue reading
I love that Summer is here. Maybe not officially, but we’ve had so many lovely days that have been perfect for shooting that I feel extremely lucky! This lovely family I had the pleasure of photographing two weekends ago. The Upton’s came to me inquiring about booking a family photo session as their son Max would soon be headed off to school out West. I thought this was a fantastic idea. Once kids reach this teen age and they all begin heading in new and different ways, it’s so nice commemorate it while everyone it still living under one roof. And as always…I was so flattered that they asked me. 🙂
I am just so completely thrilled with how these images came out too. We had fun, they brought their dog Cleo (who provided us with many laughs as you’ll see below!) and everyone was just so easy going and laid back. That’s why I love family photography as much as I do. Moments like this just happen. There is no rush. Connections are made organically. And laughter is always genuine. 🙂 Funny enough, one of my very favorite images is one that you’ll find at the end of this post. As I was going through the photos after the session I came across it and couldn’t bring myself to discard it. Perhaps it’ll never be a giant canvas hanging on a living room wall, but to me it spoke volumes. Not only about the fun we were having, but again, what I love so much about being a family photographer. As we were trying to get everyone situated for a photo, their Standard Poodle Cleo decide to mosey on in front of the camera. Just sitting. Chilling out. Of course, we all burst into laughter (myself included) and I couldn’t resist snapping. A split second decision on my part but the genuine expressions captured on everyone’s face make it an image that will stick in my mind for a very long time to come. 🙂
Thank you so much to the Upton family for trusting me with your family’s memories. I am truly grateful to have met all of you and I wish you all the best!
