This lovely Ottawa family has been coming to me for their photos for a few years now and it’s been so much fun to see how they’ve grown and changed in the time I’ve known them. The first session I did with them was when their daughter was just a tot. Since then they’ve added two more children to their brood and have moved to another country! It means so much to me that they would keep coming back to see me when they are home. Aside from being just genuinely nice people, their laid back style means more room for creativity for me so it’s always extra enjoyable!
One challenge after photographing a family so many times is that you start having to think extra hard about new and different location ideas that we haven’t done before! This time around, I figured now that their kids are a little older (and maybe slightly more wild!) something funky and unique like graffiti would add an element of fun to the photos. And boy was I right! I thought it was so funny that the kids immediately began posing in front of the wall as if they knew the drill. Watching them come up with their own poses was pretty hilarious and made for some really adorable moments. I will say – I do think these images captured the chaos and joys of being a young family of five quite well 😉

I’ve had a huge influx of inquiries for professional headshots for the month of July! It seems more and more Ottawa area creatives, students, entrepreneurs and other business professionals are choosing the more relaxed ‘lifestyle’ approach to their portraits. In addition to this making a busier spring/summer/fall season for me (YAY!)…I’m really happy to see this shift from a personal standpoint. As someone who is naturally a bit introverted, I know that when I’m searching for a company to work with or an individual to hire for something, I always love it when I can find some sort of personal connection. A warm, natural smile goes a long way in making me feel comfortable as a client or customer. So when other professionals get the importance of this, I think it can only benefit them in the long run!
The lovely Andria had such a naturally funny quirkiness to her that was impossible not to like! Anyone who knows me knows that I love a good laugh or two when I’m working. It was a pleasure to meet you Andria! I hope these images serve you well, now and in the future!
If you live in the Ottawa area and are interested in booking your own Professional Headshots, I’d love to hear from you! There couldn’t be a more perfect time to make this investment in your business, brand or career!
For all of the years I’ve lived and worked in Ottawa as a family photographer, I’d always dreamed that the stars would align and I would end up with a family session at Ottawa’s Ornamental Gardens when apple blossom trees were in full, perfect bloom. With such a short window of opportunity for capturing these, it’s easy to be a few days too early or a few days too late and miss them altogether. Then there’s always a chance that the family I happen to be working with has another location in mind. Whatever the reason, I’ve always ended up missing them at their peak. This time though…luck was definitely on my side!
When this lovely crew contacted me to capture them in celebration of Grandma and Grandpa’s 50th Anniversary, I was so honoured and excited. I often photograph extended families here in Ottawa, but it’s not every day you get to be part of such an incredible milestone! The fact that the trees were in full bloom and the love was abundant only added to the beauty of this otherwise overcast, slightly rainy day. About half way through the session it began to rain. But we pushed through regardless and it was well worth it! Both the family and I couldn’t be more thrilled with the resulting images.
