It occurred to me this morning that I haven’t blogged in literally FOREVER. I’ve been working…and in fact, it’s been one of my busier winters to date! But finding the time to sit down and talk about everything I’m doing isn’t always easy. So rather than go through every single session I’ve done, I’m hoping to at least get a few of my favourite sessions and photos up over the next couple of weeks, just to keep this space looking fresh 🙂
Speaking looking fresh…get a load of this babe! I have known Amy for several years now as we have lots of similar interests and tons of mutual friends in and around the city. Needless to say, I was thrilled when she approached me to take some photos of her for her new blog, Amy in 613. If there’s anyone who knows style, it’s Amy, and if you are into all things beauty, fashion and Ottawa…her blog (and Facebook page) is definitely something to check out!
On the day of the session Amy showed up not only looking as perfect as I expected, but also with her signature smile and sweet, warm and friendly personality that instantly lights up a room. It made working with her so relaxing and so much fun. Really the perfect client in my books!
Amy, it was such a pleasure to do these headshots for you and I’m so thrilled that you love them! I look forward to having the opportunity to work together again some day! A huge thank to Mint Hair Studio and to Iron North Fitness as well for allowing us to use your beautiful spaces for this shoot!
If you are an Ottawa area blogger, entrepreneur, creative or professional in need of some sleek, contemporary headshots – look no further! I’d love to help you create some on of a kind images that show the world who you really are! Get in touch with me today to book your session!
This post has been a long time in the making! In addition to sessions, just being busy with the kids who are home for the summer has most of my free time tied up. I’ve just had zero time to get things blogged! This was a post that I know many people were anxiously waiting to see though so I really couldn’t make them wait any longer! 😉
I’ve struggled with the wording for this post. Mostly because it’s not every day that one of your best friends gets married…and I had it in my head that I wanted to say something special. The truth is though, the longer I dwelled on it, the harder it seemed to really get out what I want to say. These photos already speak a thousand words. They capture all of the love, fun and beauty of that day. They capture Chrissy and Steve’s personalities and love for one another, seen through my eyes. For the rest of their lives Steve and Chrissy will be looking at these treasured memories and will see them exactly as I did. To me, that’s pretty special and unique. It’s a secret little gift from me, hidden amongst the obvious.
Steve and Chrissy, I’m so thrilled for you. For the lives you are building together, for the new home you’ve bought together, for the family that you will no doubt raise together – for everything that’s to come in your lives as husband and wife. After having been married for almost 9 years, let me tell you that it can be a wild ride. Some days will be wonderful, some days more challenging. Life will throw you all kinds of curve balls – most you’ll never see coming. But at the end of the day, you’ll be stronger for it. Your love will grow deeper, your bond will grow stronger and your trust will be unbreakable. Never forget that there’s a silver lining in all of those hard times. During the wonderful times, never forget to revel in how lucky you are to have each other. To have found each other. To admire what you’ve created together. To laugh with (and at) each other. 😉 Because those, my friends, are the secrets to marriage. Take it from a ol’ veteran 😉
Lots of love from your friend and official family photographer for life (whether you like it or not) ;),

This beautiful wedding was photographed at the Cornwall Golf and Country Club in Cornwall, Ontario. Please note that as on Ottawa Photographer, I am taking only a very small number of wedding commissions at this time. Professional Business Headshots are something I’ve sort of become “known” for in recent months, I suppose you could say. They’ve become a HUGE part of my ever growing business and they are right up there with some of my very favorite client experiences. So far in 2013 I’m getting TONS of interest. The best part is that so much of it has been word of mouth. I’m so incredibly grateful for this. Headshots weren’t something I ever expected to love as much as I do. But the one on one interactions with people are proving to be so rewarding on both a personal and professional level. As a professional photographer, I firmly believe that having a connection with your subject is key in headshot portraits. It helps relax the subject, it inspires and builds confidence in the photographer and when you put those two elements together it creates an outstanding representation of that individual. Things just ‘jive’. From the client’s perspective, putting your best face forward is absolutely key in building a great connection with potential clients and employers alike. I love that my clients get the importance of this concept – often before we even meet. One of the greatest compliments I’ve received to date was that the client/photographer connection was so strongly visible in my work, it’s the reason the client decided to hire me. That’s one of the greatest compliments I could ever receive! It’s always so rewarding when people are able to see exactly what you are trying to convey.
I like to think my approach to professional business headshots is a fun, personal, not-so-corporate one. I guess because I’ve spent so much of my own life living as more or less a ‘free spirit’, this kind of approach just comes naturally to me. The truth is, I love to laugh. I take comfort in finding connections with people. I genuinely love to have a good time and it makes me feel good to know that my work is making others happy. These are the things that motivate me. They are what drive me and my business forward. I’m so, so grateful that this aspect of my business has taken off the way it has. I am excited to see what the rest of 2013 has in store and what beautiful people I’ll get to meet!
