A really fun challenge for me when I am thinking about locations to use for client headshot sessions is to select a place that wouldn’t ordinarily be seen as suitable (or even beautiful) and do my best to find the beauty in it. In the case of Sarah’s session, I suggested we use the area around her office building as well as the teensy little bit of park area across the street. This is an area of the city I’ve driven by about a million times and never would I have thought it beautiful any other time. But with the right model, the right light and a bit of thinking outside the box, we made it work beautifully!
Thanks so much for the wonderful session Sarah! I’m so pleased that you are thrilled with your images. I’m glad they convey exactly what you had hoped!
If you live in Ottawa and are interested in booking a professional head shot session this year, I’d love to hear from you! Let’s work together to create a one-of-a-kind set of images that tell the story you want to tell the world about yourself!
The fabulous Kristen’s indoor headshot session here in Ottawa is one of my personal favourites this year for sure. Don’t get me wrong – I do love a good outdoor headshot session (which I do very regularly!), but when a client has another unique location in mind, I’m typically more than happy to oblige. Especially when it’s a fun, trendy looking spot that will lend itself well to the overall look and feel that the client is wishing to convey. Casual, contemporary, relaxed and fun are all words I’d use to describe the images from this session.
I definitely don’t view modern lifestyle headshot sessions like this as a one-size-fits-all type of thing. Of course, I do have locations that I personally love and I am always more than willing to make suggestions based on areas I know that work well for most. But I always welcome client input as well. Taking an active role in deciding the particulars of this type of session really personalizes the experience for the client. So if you have been thinking about doing this type of portrait session with me, please know that I am always open to collaborating pre-session to make this the best experience for both of us!
Kristen, you totally rocked this and I am so thrilled that these were the exact type of professional portraits that you were hoping for! I am confident that these will serve you well for all of your personal, professional and social media needs.

I’ve had a huge influx of inquiries for professional headshots for the month of July! It seems more and more Ottawa area creatives, students, entrepreneurs and other business professionals are choosing the more relaxed ‘lifestyle’ approach to their portraits. In addition to this making a busier spring/summer/fall season for me (YAY!)…I’m really happy to see this shift from a personal standpoint. As someone who is naturally a bit introverted, I know that when I’m searching for a company to work with or an individual to hire for something, I always love it when I can find some sort of personal connection. A warm, natural smile goes a long way in making me feel comfortable as a client or customer. So when other professionals get the importance of this, I think it can only benefit them in the long run!
The lovely Andria had such a naturally funny quirkiness to her that was impossible not to like! Anyone who knows me knows that I love a good laugh or two when I’m working. It was a pleasure to meet you Andria! I hope these images serve you well, now and in the future!
If you live in the Ottawa area and are interested in booking your own Professional Headshots, I’d love to hear from you! There couldn’t be a more perfect time to make this investment in your business, brand or career!
