Blossoms and Big Love :: Ottawa Family Photographer

For all of the years I’ve lived and worked in Ottawa as a family photographer, I’d always dreamed that the stars would align and I would end up with a family session at Ottawa’s Ornamental Gardens when apple blossom trees were in full, perfect bloom. With such a short window of opportunity for capturing these, it’s easy to be a few days too early or a few days too late and miss them altogether. Then there’s always a chance that the family I happen to be working with has another location in mind. Whatever the reason, I’ve always ended up missing them at their peak. This time though…luck was definitely on my side!

When this lovely crew contacted me to capture them in celebration of Grandma and Grandpa’s 50th Anniversary, I was so honoured and excited. I often photograph extended families here in Ottawa, but it’s not every day you get to be part of such an incredible milestone! The fact that the trees were in full bloom and the love was abundant only added to the beauty of this otherwise overcast, slightly rainy day. About half way through the session it began to rain. But we pushed through regardless and it was well worth it! Both the family and I couldn’t be more thrilled with the resulting images.

Professional Headshots Ottawa :: Dan

For all of my professional headshot sessions I typically expect to spend about 30-45 minutes with each client. This amount of time usually allows for us to walk around the location and find some different areas to shoot in. It also allows for my clients to become comfortable with me. Past experience has shown that the first 10-15 minutes of a photo session can often be the most uncomfortable for a client, and I totally get that.

Being photographed in general can feel awkward for some (myself included!) and some times it takes a few minutes to get into the groove of things. With Dan though, I couldn’t have asked for an easier, more relaxed and fun experience. He was just a natural in front of the camera and our session just breezed by! I love when things just click between myself and my subject. 🙂

Thank you Dan for the fun session and for choosing Danielle Lynn Photography to create these professional headshots for you!

Ottawa Family Photographer :: Three Lovely Ladies!

Tina was one of the first people my husband and I met when we moved to Ottawa about 4 years ago. Like us, Tina had been wading through the mountains of paperwork to complete the adoption of her daughter from Ethiopia. During this time we attended many a gathering with lots of other families and after what seemed like an eternity, both of our families were fortunate enough to welcome both of our daughters home. In fact, my family was at the airport when Tina landed in Canada with her sweet daughter Freesia! It seems like it’s been forever!

Now more than two years since Freesia’s arrival, I am THRILLED to have the opportunity to photograph this beautiful family of three – Tina, Annika and Freesia. Some things I loved about this session:

~ Annika’s slightly apprehensive personality.Typical for her age I’m sure, but I enjoyed the challenge of coaxing those naturally beautiful smiles out of her.

~ Freesia’s uncontrollable need to giggle. Her happiness absolutely bursts out of her.

~ Tina’s beautiful, tender connection to her girls. I love how they can laugh together in such a natural way. Moms like this are incredibly special.

~ Annika and Freesia’s hilarious and fun relationship. They are like two peas in a pod. Always laughing, always smiling, always picking on one another. It made my job so easy. 🙂

Thank you so much ladies for choosing me to photograph this wonderful day with the three of you! I had seriously had so much fun and I am so pleased with the way these images show your personalities! So much so that I may have blogged pretty much the entire session! 😉
