I feel so grateful this year for having had the opportunity to photograph so many sweet, fun, wonderful families. Fall always tends to be my busiest time of year, but the one I enjoy most because of the amount of fun and silliness that tends to be had. One of my very favorite things EVER is when a family shows up, ready to have a good time. It gives me a great feeling and a big boost of confidence to know they are as excited for their session as I am. It makes me feel like anything is possible!
The Clark family were just that…and so much more. From the moment they stepped out of their van I could tell that they had been excited and planning for this for quite a while. With 4 children ages 2 through 9, I have to admit, I kind of expected tears…tantrums…the usual from kids that age. But each one of them was truly a treat. Dressed to perfection and full of smiles, happiness and so cooperative. I must remember to ask their mom Tiffany what her secret is! I suspect most of that good behaviour had something to do with the promise of hot chocolate… 😉
Stuart, Tiffany, Spencer, Lyena, Evie and sweet little Aften – your big smiles and beautiful personalities made this one of my favorite sessions ever (which is why the blog post is SO full of photos!). Thank you so much! I sincerely hope you love the photos as much as I loved taking them, and I hope we have the opportunity to meet again!

First I’m going to start out by saying that these are some of the sweetest, funniest, kindest and most talented women I’ve ever had the pleasure of meeting during my career as an Ottawa Photographer. For me, this was more than a session. I was BEYOND excited when they contacted me to capture this fun styled shoot which they had planned to use as their introduction to the world as the TBB’s!
The TBB’s are a wine-ing, dine-ing and designing group of best friends who all own and work in their own individual professional interior design businesses here in Ottawa. They created their new blog as a way to chronicle their travel adventures, wine and dine experiences and to share their love of beautiful design with the world. Knowing most of these ladies personally (and having had the opportunity to work with all of them before on charity projects as well as family and headshot photo sessions) I can already tell you with 100% certainty that these ladies are going to rock the design world with their knowledge, amazing personalities and the genuine love and passion for what they do. After having worked so closely with them on the number of projects I have, I now consider each of these ladies to be personal friends. I wish them incredible success with this venture and can’t wait to follow along with all that is to come!
Thanks again Maureen, Sonya, Donna, Lisa, Nicole and Mary Anne for choosing me to photograph this fun afternoon. I look forward to the next time we work together! 😉

Here’s what I adored about this family session:
1) Mom and Dad were not afraid to get down and dirty with the kids. Wrestling, letting them climb trees, running, tickling and laughing. This made the session AWESOME. The kids were naturally happy and in their element and it made for lots of fun photos, both posed and candid.
2) This entire session took place within maybe 8 square meters, under a tree. To me this just goes to show that when a family is really engaged and ready to have a great time, location is secondary. Don’t get me wrong, choosing a nice location is important. But what’s REALLY important and what will REALLY make the session special is the connection between the family members and everyone’s excitement to participate.
3) Everyone in this family had a great relationship. I could tell right off the bat these guys were an active family and one that obviously invests a great deal of time in their children and letting them just be children. I loved that. It always translates into something totally unique and during a session it inspires me to see things differently and to search for what’s unique with each family.
Thank you SO much to the wild and crazy Fletcher crew. Both for choosing me as your Ottawa Family Photographer, and also for allowing me see your family in such a unique light. You were truly inspiring!
OH! And P.S. They are currently expecting their 3rd child and are on the hunt for unique baby names! Feel free to leave some suggestions in the comments below! 😉
