First can I say, is this a gorgeous crew or what?!
These guys came to me because they wanted to book a family photo session as a gift for Dad for Father’s Day. Since not everyone in the family is from Ottawa, it was a gamble as to whether or not the unpredictable weather would be in our favour. It was – thank goodness! And even better, when I arrived to meet them at Mom and Dad’s condo, we discovered so much beautiful green space within the complex which would serve as an excellent location! We couldn’t possibly have asked for a better case scenario.
Such a fantastic and fun group to work with and so many wonderful images for them to enjoy – Thanks so much D family!
If you are interested in booking your own family session with Ottawa Photographer, Danielle Lynn Photography, I’d love to hear from you! I still have a few available dates for July and August 2015 and would love to photograph your family, big or small!
Sometimes I show up to a session and I just know my clients and I will click from the moment we meet. I like to think it’s something in those initial interactions that not only boosts my confidence and excitement as a photographer, but also allows for my clients and I to enter a space of comfort right from the get go. Being comfortable, laughing and having fun with each other during a session goes such a long way. So much so that I really do believe it can be seen in the photos. Continue reading
I love that Summer is here. Maybe not officially, but we’ve had so many lovely days that have been perfect for shooting that I feel extremely lucky! This lovely family I had the pleasure of photographing two weekends ago. The Upton’s came to me inquiring about booking a family photo session as their son Max would soon be headed off to school out West. I thought this was a fantastic idea. Once kids reach this teen age and they all begin heading in new and different ways, it’s so nice commemorate it while everyone it still living under one roof. And as always…I was so flattered that they asked me. 🙂
I am just so completely thrilled with how these images came out too. We had fun, they brought their dog Cleo (who provided us with many laughs as you’ll see below!) and everyone was just so easy going and laid back. That’s why I love family photography as much as I do. Moments like this just happen. There is no rush. Connections are made organically. And laughter is always genuine. 🙂 Funny enough, one of my very favorite images is one that you’ll find at the end of this post. As I was going through the photos after the session I came across it and couldn’t bring myself to discard it. Perhaps it’ll never be a giant canvas hanging on a living room wall, but to me it spoke volumes. Not only about the fun we were having, but again, what I love so much about being a family photographer. As we were trying to get everyone situated for a photo, their Standard Poodle Cleo decide to mosey on in front of the camera. Just sitting. Chilling out. Of course, we all burst into laughter (myself included) and I couldn’t resist snapping. A split second decision on my part but the genuine expressions captured on everyone’s face make it an image that will stick in my mind for a very long time to come. 🙂
Thank you so much to the Upton family for trusting me with your family’s memories. I am truly grateful to have met all of you and I wish you all the best!
