THESE BOYS! They stole my heart from the moment I showed up. Although they are twins, their personalities couldn’t have been more different. One was a complete ham, willing to pose and smile on demand. The other was a little more shy and basically wanted nothing to do with me. It made for an interesting time to say the least! But I’m no rookie. I had many tricks up me sleeve to ensure cooperation and let’s just say that mom and dad weren’t disappointed with the results! 🙂
The location for this family photo session was right in the family’s own neighbourhood which was so perfect. Being an older neighbourhood, there were lots of mature, colourful trees that helped set the scene perfectly. It also helps with some kids to keep them in familiar surroundings as well. These boys were more than happy to show me their yard, the cool rocks they collected and the giant home-grown pumpkin that sat proudly on their front porch. In the end I’m so glad we went with this location. Nothing is more personalized than family portraits in your own neighbourhood!
Thanks so much ‘L Family’ for your hospitality and for asking me to photograph your beautiful family! I hope we have the opportunity to do this again in the future!

This is not my sweet friend Amy’s first time in front of my camera. In fact, in 2010, when my business was still relatively new and these two were expecting their first bambino Lauren, I had the pleasure of photographing them then too! Since then, a lot has changed for the Symes family and I’ve once again had the pleasure of photographing them during this very exciting time as they welcome a new sibling for Lauren!
Now I should admit, I’m a wee bit behind on blogging. As in…ummm…the baby is already born! Baby Lilah was born on May 17th everyone is doing well and is healthy. Rumor has it she’s absolutely gorgeous and chubby weighing in at around the 9 or 10 pound mark! Way to go Mama! 😉
Thanks so much to this beautiful family for choosing me once again to capture this new beginning for you! Lifestyle Maternity photography is something I don’t do nearly enough of but enjoy so much when I am presented with the opportunity. There’s nothing quite as exciting as the anticipation of a new baby. Whether the session is just with a couple alone or involving pets or other children, all are equally as fun, special and unique.
If you had been thinking about a maternity session by Ottawa’s Award Winning Family Photographer, Danielle Lynn Photography, please contact me today! The months of June and July are both filling up much quicker than anticipated so don’t wait much longer! 🙂
Professional Business Headshots are something I’ve sort of become “known” for in recent months, I suppose you could say. They’ve become a HUGE part of my ever growing business and they are right up there with some of my very favorite client experiences. So far in 2013 I’m getting TONS of interest. The best part is that so much of it has been word of mouth. I’m so incredibly grateful for this. Headshots weren’t something I ever expected to love as much as I do. But the one on one interactions with people are proving to be so rewarding on both a personal and professional level. As a professional photographer, I firmly believe that having a connection with your subject is key in headshot portraits. It helps relax the subject, it inspires and builds confidence in the photographer and when you put those two elements together it creates an outstanding representation of that individual. Things just ‘jive’. From the client’s perspective, putting your best face forward is absolutely key in building a great connection with potential clients and employers alike. I love that my clients get the importance of this concept – often before we even meet. One of the greatest compliments I’ve received to date was that the client/photographer connection was so strongly visible in my work, it’s the reason the client decided to hire me. That’s one of the greatest compliments I could ever receive! It’s always so rewarding when people are able to see exactly what you are trying to convey.
I like to think my approach to professional business headshots is a fun, personal, not-so-corporate one. I guess because I’ve spent so much of my own life living as more or less a ‘free spirit’, this kind of approach just comes naturally to me. The truth is, I love to laugh. I take comfort in finding connections with people. I genuinely love to have a good time and it makes me feel good to know that my work is making others happy. These are the things that motivate me. They are what drive me and my business forward. I’m so, so grateful that this aspect of my business has taken off the way it has. I am excited to see what the rest of 2013 has in store and what beautiful people I’ll get to meet!
